Jamie Phelps

Jamie Phelps is the Head Coach of Vancouver Lake Rowing Club in Vancouver, Washington. Since joining the club in fall 2023, Jamie has overseen steady program growth, more than doubling the size of the team while helping expand rowing through community engagement and outreach.

  • Since arriving at Vancouver Lake, Jamie has coached athletes to medals at Youth Nationals, including third-place finishes in the Women’s U17 2x in both 2024 and 2025.

    In 2025, Jamie co-led a group of 10 Northwest athletes to success at Canadian Henley, where the group progressed to four Grand Finals and won gold in the U17 men’s and women’s double sculls.

    Before joining Vancouver Lake, Jamie served as Head Coach of South Eugene Rowing Club. At South Eugene, Jamie coached athletes to major national and international-level results, including:

    • 3rd place, 2021 Youth Nationals, Men’s U19 2x

    • 1st place, 2022 Summer Nationals, Men’s U19 1x

    • 2nd place, 2021 Head of the Charles, Men’s U19 2x

    • 1st place, 2022 Youth Nationals, Men’s U19 2x

    Jamie’s coaching is grounded in technical precision, athlete development, and the belief that long-term performance is built through consistent daily standards.
